Your Summer 2025 Video Marketing Timeline

How will you reach your audience this summer? Step one: don’t sweat it. Between social media, Connected TV (CTV), and other ad channels, there are a ton of opportunities to make a significant impact this time of year. Here’s what you need to know about summer 2025, from its significance to the key dates to keep in mind.

The Importance of Summer 2025

In the past, summer wasn’t really considered a key time of year for television strategy, but brands — and the times — have changed over the last couple of years. Now, advertisers have the opportunity to build on the momentum of the previous few summers and make a real impact with their audience.

So what happened over the last few summers to cause this shift? In the summer of 2023, the world was taken by storm by some incredible concerts, including the Eras Tour and the Renaissance World Tour. It was also the Barbenheimer Summer, when fans took to movie theaters to watch an unforgettable (and unlikely) double feature.

In the summer of 2024, the Olympic Games had more than 30.6 million viewers across NBCUniversal’s key platforms, an 82% increase over the Tokyo Olympics, according to MNTN Research. Oh, right, and the Eras Tour was still happening.

The music continues this year — Beyoncé is headed back out for the Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit Tour, Lady Gaga is touring with her Mayhem Ball Tour, and Charli XCX is making sure we have another Brat Summer as her tour continues through July 2025. All of this to say, the last few summers have been essential for the success of many brands, and we’re expecting no exception for summer 2025.

Key Dates for Summer 2025

Calendar-wise, summer takes place between June 20 and August 31, 2025 — but it’s quite a bit more complicated than that. When we’re looking at summer, we tend to look a week before Memorial Day to a week after Labor Day; this extended timeline helps us make sure we capture everything summer-related.

Here are some key dates to keep in mind:

  • Monday, May 26: Memorial Day
  • Sunday, June 15: Father’s Day
  • Thursday, June 19: Juneteenth
  • Friday, July 4: Independence Day
  • Monday, September 1: Labor Day

The Back-To-School Season

While “back-to-school season” may mean different things for different brands, it’s essential to include it in your summer campaigns. According to MNTN Research, back-to-school retail sales were estimated to reach $81.16 billion in 2024, with an average consumer spend that actually exceeds the Q4 holidays. (In other words: if you skip BTS season, you’re missing out on a ton of potential revenue.)

Summer 2025 Ad Creative Best Practices

Here are some of the creative best practices that will help you make the most of your summer 2025 video marketing campaigns:

Make Enough Ad Creative

Make sure you have enough ad creative to last all summer. Evergreen creative typically lasts 2-3 months, so we recommend updating it every quarter. But seasonal ad creative doesn’t last as long, so you’ll want to update them every 10 to 20 days to avoid ad fatigue. Thankfully, these changes don’t have to be drastic. You can use the post-production process to swap out CTAs, voiceovers, and on-screen text (just to name a few examples) to extend the content.

Keep Your Audience in Mind

With kids home from school, students home from college, and summer Fridays for some corporate employees, households are more likely to have people gathered around the living room screen, which means you’ll be able to capture more attention with a single CTV ad. But you’ll still want to make sure you’re speaking to the right people, so don’t go too broad with your content just because you know everyone in the family group chat will be tuning into the newest season of Squid Game

Create a Cross-Platform Strategy

Most people are watching TV and using social media (often at the same time), which means you’ll want to create a cross-platform strategy to reach them most effectively. When you’re creating your summer ad campaigns, make sure you keep the different platforms you’d like to use in mind. Each platform has different ad requirements, including ad specs and platform-specific features, that you’ll need to consider as you create your content.

Make the Most of Your Summer 2025 Video Marketing Strategy

With an uncertain economic climate, consumers will be holding their money a little bit closer than usual. It’ll be vital to get (and stay) on your potential customers’ radar as soon as possible to account for this. Maintain a consistent, steady presence with clear, audience-focused ad creative, and you’ll be able to connect with your current and potential customers all summer long.
